About YYC Food Collaborative
The YYCFC used to be known as the Compassionate Food Dignity Collaborative, and was supported by The City of Calgary under its “CalgaryEATS! Food Action Plan” and stewarded by Vibrant Communities Calgary. It was dissolved in 2017.
In 2020, emergency food providers were seeking opportunities to connect and work more collaboratively to address food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic and the YYC Food Collaborative was formed with support from community social workers.
Since 2021, the YYCFC of organizations has been meeting regularly to work toward common goals for food security in Calgary.
We are currently working on three key goals to advance our mission:
Collaborative Outcome
Build a sense of unity and find the places where we can share our voice to make change.
Sector Outcome
Support each other to become more coordinated and provide incredible emergency food provision for people who have to access our services.
Community Outcome
Help the broader community understand the economic roots of household food insecurity and create advocacy opportunities for providers to participate in.
